Youth Development Programs
Snacks Innovation challenge
In 2017, PepsiCo. and ATC partnered to establish the Snacks Innovation Challenge. The competition sought out and enhanced the capacities of entrepreneurs addressing one of three challenges facing the snacks portfolio; offering healthy snacks, creating environmentally friendly packaging, and engaging consumers through digital media.
The competition received over 400 applications, 35 of which were selected and received an intensive boot camp as well as mentorship by PepsiCo employees and mentors from ATC’s network. The provisioned support enabled entrepreneurs to enhance their ideas and to pitch to PepsiCo management and investors.
The top two winners of this challenge received an online Scale Up Program in May 2019, offered by IE Business School, one of the leading business schools in the world.
Innovation Bootcamp
Amideast and ATC conducted an innovation Bootcamp for 40 entrepreneurs from Amideast's Youth Entrepreneurship Programme (YEP).
The main topics of the training were creativity and innovation, purpose driven entrepreneurship, creative and critical thinking, design thinking, and creating a team charter to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
IC High School Entrepreneurship Program
ATC trained International Baccalaureate (IB) students at Beirut's renowned International College (IC) on impact entrepreneurship, design thinking, and innovation for sustainable societal change. The training culminated in a Pitch Event where students presented their business ideas for social impact to a crowd of stakeholders.
MINT Ambassadors Program
Between 2018-2021, Ahead of the Curve and MINT by EGBank have collaborated to launch the “MINT Ambassadors” program across Egypt.
The program allowed university students, or “Ambassadors”, to participate in a 4-day training program addressing leadership skills, design thinking and business modelling, become a better and more effective communicator and develop a deep understanding of Egypt’s economy and the role of banks in building this economy. After the training the “Ambassador” were assigned to three separate “missions,” and the top students working on these missions would be eligible for an internship at the EGBank. Missions have included passing on the knowledge that they acquired through the training to other young Egyptians. We have trained over 80 MINT Ambassadors who were able to reach 1000+ students across 20 universities in 10 governorates since the program’s launch.
Tatweer Innovation Challenge
Between 2017 and 2019, Tatweer Misr and Ahead of the Curve held the Annual Tatweer Misr Innovation Competition. The competition seeks out youth-led innovations to challenges that Tatweer Misr presents to the contestants in the areas of Marketing and Architectural design.
Google's Mobile Application Launchpad
Ahead of the Curve worked with Google on a program called Mobile Application Launchpad that has successfully trained 5 groups of Egyptian youth and a total of 1200 mobile application developers.
We initially started in 2015 when we took the lead on raising awareness on the application process for the program across universities, co-working spaces and the community through our network, helping the program reach more than 5,000 young Egyptian technology enthusiasts online and through offline outreach events. Most of these developers have managed to join prestigious companies or start their own mobile application businesses. We are currently working on support graduates of the program along with other partners in securing the support need to take their next step in the professional working world. As part of this project, we have conducted more than 30 awareness sessions across more than 10 public universities, reaching more than 1000 students.
